Kathy Griffin Pushes Clean Panties for Kotex

Kathy Griffin has made a career by exhibiting no human emotions akin to embarrassment. In 2003, after her win on Celebrity Mole: Hawaii and her unofficial indoctrination into the lower echelons of celebrity, Griffin pursued a career based on self-effacing stardom. Her Bravo reality series, My Life on the D-List (for which Griffin has taken home two Emmys as the show’s Executive Producer) showcases the former Groundling‘s unabashed schemes to climb Hollywood’s social ladder.

All in the name of fame, Griffin is willing to do things other stars wouldn’t. This makes her a great talent to tap for Kotex’s upcoming web series based on the company’s “Panty-Approved Protection” campaign.

According to Elaine Wong at Brandweek, Griffin will co-write an original, online video series starring her and Hollywood stylist, George Kotsiopoulos. The show will be based on entries to KotexProjectMakeunder.com. Out of all the submissions from females detailing “how their lingerie drawers became so dull,” Kotex will choose 10 finalists to present their underwear sob stories on video. Of those 10, three will get celebrity makeunders from Griffin and Kotsiopoulos. Those lingerie transformations will be the basis of the series.

Certainly there are other celebrities who endorse feminine products, but Griffin’s comedy background and non-celebrity celebrity give her leeway to speak candidly about women’s underwear. While other Hollywood notables may blush at talking about what Kotex brand director, Aida Flick calls “period panties,” I’m sure Griffin will handle the subject matter with aplomb.
