In the next few weeks Mechem Media will pitch The Gloomers along with other animated projects developed in the style of Hanna-Barbera, creator of animated television hits Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones. Carolyn Bernstein, Executive Vice President of Scripted Programs at Reveille, told The Hollywood Reporter
“Hanna-Barbera cartoons are some of the most enduring television series ever created, with characters that continue to live as pop culture icons. Mechem Media is extending Hanna-Barbera’s signature 2D animation style and tone to new stories and new characters, and we’re thrilled to help bring these ideas to life.”The first-look deal will start with The Gloomers, and then “five other animated shows in development, one live action reality show, and a movie,” Dan Mechem, CEO of Mechem Media, told Tubefilter. Reveille is behind upcoming scripted series Gigantic on TeenNick; perhaps The Gloomers will find a home on Nickelodeon as well.
