4 Ways To Make The Most Of The Tubefilter Web TV Meetup

Two days until the July Tubefilter Web TV Meetup, and it’s time to start prepping for Thursday night. First things first, you should take a look at the web series from our two very talented guest speakers:

Alex Albrecht (DiggnationProject LoreThe Totally Rad Show)

Hayden Black (Goodnight BurbankAbigail’s Teen Diary, The Cabonauts).

We’re going to be starting the evening out with an open panel discussion with these two knuckleheads, so come with questions you want to ask! Make sure to RSVP soon before tickets are gone as space is limited.

Busby’s East (Mid Wilshire)

We want to make sure you’re getting the most out of the Tubefilter Meetups, so we’ve put together four ways to make the most out of the Meetup. There’s probably a lot more than four, but start with these and let us know what else you do that works for you.

1. Do Your Homework!
Research is key. Take some time to look at the RSVP list to get an idea of who’s coming. Most people include a link to their web series or company site. Click on them. See what they are working on and what’s inspires them. The more informed you are, the better conversations you’ll have.

2. Ask Smart Questions to the Speakers
No matter how dumb or noobish your question seems, ask it. That’s the point. I guarantee other people in the room are wondering the same thing. Our speakers (Alex and Hayden) have been down many a road before in the web series world, and no doubt faced some of the same challenges you have. Find out what worked for them and what didn’t.

3. Introduce People, Be A Connector
It’s easy to stick to talking with

who you know and not branch out. Don’t do that. Be open to meeting new people and better yet, connecting people you know or even just met. There will be lots of different types of people at the Meetup, but they all share a general passion for web television and online video. I’ve heard of several cases where people meeting at the Meetup ended up working together afterwards—help make that happen.

4. Follow-Up With Each Other
Whatever you think of business cards, for now they are still the easiest way to pass along contact info. So clearly you should have a good number with you for the Meetup. Take the ones you receive and follow-up promptly with the people you’d like to get to know better. (This is sounding like dating.) Let them know you met at the Tubefilter Web TV Meetup to give them a context for your email.

Above all come with a good attitude, open mind and have fun. We are super lucky to have such great speakers and of course all of your insanely talented people who make the Meetups what they are. Thank you for supporting this thriving creative community.

Can’t make it? You can still use the Meetup to connect with this bunch of web series junkies. Connect on Twitter, friend each other on Facebook and leave comments below for our speakers. Our friends at KoldCast TV will be there interviewing web stars and covering the evening from start to finish, so check back on the Meetup page for the juicy videos.

Got questions for Alex and Hayden, but can’t make it to the Meetup? Ask in the comments below and we’ll ask them for you.
