MadAtoms Preps 'Rent Control' For Fox

Daily Show correspondent Josh Gad is set to star in a new web series from MadAtoms.com called Rent Control, which is being produced by USR Content for a possible negative pickup by Fox. Gad created the series along with his fellow Lost Nomad comedy troupe members Tyler Moore, Ida Darvish and Tyler Clancey who are also said to be in the series.

Filming began today on the series, which has Gad playing an underachieving slacker who’s uncle sets him up with a gig as building manager at a decrepit apartment building. (Sounds a bit like the setup of The Super Man

.) The quirky supporting characters include a “lecherous gay porn star” who’s using his apartment as a porn set, and “a married couple on the verge of a murder-suicide.” Interesting.

Gad is also in the cast of Electric Farm’s upcoming comedy web series Woke Up Dead with Jon Heder and Taryn Southern which is also currently shooting.

MadAtoms, which was rumored to be owned by the now-defunct Fox Atomic, has a production deal with Fox Studios, as hinted at back in March when the S.W.I.P.E. trailer hit the web. The company has been getting busy with its web series lately, though arguably light on publicity. It’s latest series, I’m Sure You’ve Heard Of It, a spoof reality series about a music accessories store, was released on YouTube a few weeks back.
