Apartments.com Wants to See Your 'Possession Obsession'

Are you a watch enthusiast with a ridiculous collection of 1960s and 1970s timepieces that take up most your dining room? How about a Wonder Woman connoisseur with a half a spare room full of paraphernalia? Maybe you like condiments. Or maybe you got a lot of just plain old stuff.

Whatever your obsession may be, if you’ve got it compiled into a collection, live in an apartment, and own a video camera, Apartments.com wants to give you a chance at $20,000. ###

Based in Chicago, the national online apartment guide is looking to reward passionate collectors in exchange for a minute or two of viral marketing. In the site’s Possession Obsession Contest, “from August 13 to September 10, 2007, collectors of interesting or unusual items will have the chance to win $20,000 in cash when they show off their collections by submitting short video entries…each entry should include how their

‘Possession Obsession’ began, reveal ways the collection has come to life in the contestant’s apartment and illustrate the funniest situations he or she has encountered because of this collection.”

In my completely unsubstantiated viewpoint, I’m guessing that anyone who logs creativity as one of their character traits is  likely to be looking for new digs on craigslist, while more left-brained apartment hunters would take their search to Apartments.com.

What does that mean? Less competition for all the wildly creative videobloggers in need of some supplemental cash and a way for internet-TV creators to subtly promote their shows. Get out those video cameras and show the web your collective obsessions.
