Pick the New Real World Cast

There’s been something of a tradition to casting MTV’s “Real World” over the years: a conflicting mix of personalities, ethnicities, sexualities, and religious beliefs are stuck together in a house, looking pretty while showcasing their neuroses and dysfunctions in relief of each other to viewer delight. But viewership has declined over the years, instigating a new plan: let the viewers pick who they want to view.

Which is why Real World Casting, a video site where users are granted the opportunity to vote for who they want to see on the air based on contestants’ audition videos (or enter late in the game with their own video), is so interesting. So far, the person winning round two has a video with a caption that reads: “iM in UR WeBziTez WinniNg Ur Contezxt,” but, hey, that’s what America wants.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Considering how many people buy “American Idol” winner and runner-up albums after they voted for them week after week, this might be the jolt of energy that “Real World” needs. But, then again, I don’t see any Pucks or Pedros in the most popular contestants.

Either way, check out the below audition video from the leading female contestant. It almost makes me want to buy cable. Almost.
