Two User-Generated MTV shows

Earlier this month, MTV announced that two shows, “Short Circuitz” and “Yo’ Momma”, would be pumped with user-generated content from individual video-sharing sites. Both sites are now live and ready for submissions.

Short Circuitz” was an improv and sketch comedy show hosted by Nick Cannon before it cancellation earlier this year. But now the show has been retooled, featuring unaired clips of Cannon’s skits and introductions, new material, and an enormous amount of user-generated videos fed from the show’s site, which will total 30% of the content that will go into the show, according to Variety. “Yo’ Momma“, which elevates yo’ momma jokes to a new level that deems the joke genre worthy of its own television show, will likely feature even more user-submitted videos on air.

While only percentages of those videos will make the shows, all submitted videos can be seen on the two sites. The site for “Yo’ Momma” gets extra fun with a rating system called The Ring, where yo’ momma battles between users get won and lost based on online viewer votes.

It’s a pretty cool bridge between new and old media. So go check out the sites and submit your vids sooner than later. Maybe you’ll get on MTV.
