Who Wants to Host Scriggity?

There’s this great running joke on the Simpsons. Jeff Albertson, often referred to as Comic Book Guy, will be seen at his computer, blogging about, say, a discrepancy of plot and continuity between episodes of “Duffman.” And then one of our protagonists will read his comments and express amazement that someone has the time and lack of respect to write endless, nitpicking vitriol about free entertainment.

That’s pretty much what’s been going on with Scriggity

for the past few weeks.

Ever since new host Alex took over the show, which has built a large fanbase by former host Shauna’s regurgitation of viewer news submissions about the mundane and extraordinary events in our everyday lives, fans who had gotten attached to the former host have been vocal about their dislike for the new host.

Fans have been so passionate in their disdain that Alex stepped back from the show shortly after starting, leaving hosting duties to writer/producer Drew Olanoff. I think he’s pretty good with his new role. But he doesn’t agree. And even though he announced yesterday that Alex will be returning, he posted on several sites, asking for contributors and new hosts who could help expand Scriggity’s current format into an increased variety of content.

That’s pretty cool. The change might turn the show into a weirdly adult version of Jetset Show. But either way, if you’re interested, get in touch with Drew through his site. And if you’ve got nothing better to do all day than post complaints about people who host free internet television (*), then maybe you should consider applying for Alex’s job. In the meantime, check out Drew playing host on Scriggity:
