Another day, another opportunity to win an online contest that affirms your status as the biggest geek in the world.
AtomFilms and Lucasfilm’s annual Official Star Wars Challenge is underway. Short-form, user-submitted videos about Star Wars (either the fictive universe or the Hollywood enterprise that surrounds it) like parodies, documentaries and fan fiction are available for viewing on the AtomFilms site, competing “to receive awards and recognition of little to no cash value.” Awesome.
Currently, there are 141 films competing for the Audience Choice Award, Best Comedy, Best Animation, and the honor among honors that is George Lucas’ award to his personal favorite among the lot.
Users have been sending in their videos for months and voting began on Tuesday, so it’s a little late to win the Audience Choice Award. But the other categories are still wide open and you can still submit before it’s too late.
There are some old winners available for viewing (I’m a fan of the 2002 Audience Choice Award: “Star Wars Gangsta Rap“) and hordes of new films ready for your video consumption. Be sure to watch this year’s submissions soon, since voting for favorites ends on Monday.
