Recently, Veoh‘s Viral sponsored a contest with Wine Library TV‘s Gary Vaynerchuk, host of the immensely popular vlog about wine and owner of the immensely popular store of the same name. The contest asked fans of Vaynerchuk to prove in video format that they were not just fans, but Vayniacs. The grand prize winner was promised not only an opportunity to meet Gary, but the chance to drink with him at a $1,000 wine tasting with eight friends.
For weeks, fanatics have been uploading their contest entries onto Veoh, each one parodying their beloved sommelier host. Some portrayed a high octane production schedule, some talked like they were giving a play-by-play at a racetrack, and some were about 12 years too young to be thinking about wine, but made a video entry anyway. The three finalists were whittled down to videos by stark8’s “Wine Library Uncut”
, jhollo77’s “Ultimate Vayniac Parody”, and sracioppi’s “Chicago South Side Challenge”.And after much deliberation, jhollo77 won with a special “cheese-only” episode of Wine Library TV, slurping Cheese-Whiz out of a wineglass, sniffing, and saying, “There’s much more of a plastic odor to it. Not so much like the plastic girly dolls like when you were a little girl, but more like the plastic of an action figurine, like a G. I. Joe or a WWF.”
Check out Viral’s announcement below and watch some of Gary’s bizarre wine descriptions that inspired jhollo77’s hilarious video at Wine Library TV.
