MrBeast added one million new subscribers during the second week of March, but he was not the only creator who reached that benchmark. Alejo Igoa, who adapts MrBeast’s brash style for a Spanish-language audience, claimed the #1 spot in the Global Sub Top 50. It’s the second time in as many months that he’s pulled off that feat.

Since the start of the year, MrBeast and Alejo Igoa have been the two top dogs in our subscriber charts. How did we get here? To answer that question, we have to take a course in MrBeast history.
Foreign language takes on MrBeast would have never existed without the man himself
Once upon a time, MrBeast rarely reached the top of our Tubefilter charts. Though he added millions of views and subscribers each week, other channels accelerated a bit faster.
That changed when the main MrBeast channel began offering a mix of long-form and short-form content. All of a sudden, Jimmy Donaldson could keep up with the Korean couple channels and Indian family vlogs, and he became a fixture atop our charts.
Then a funny thing happened: All the other MrBeasts started popping out of the woodwork. When Alejo Igoa first made his mark in our rankings, I dubbed him the “Argentinian MrBeast.” With his penchant for challenges and in-your-face thumbnails, the comparison made sense.
Now, there’s another MrBeast-inspired star surging up the Global Top 50. Huzzy Bhai is a Pakistan-based creator who applies a lot of MrBeast’s tricks to the South Asian market. By handing out round-number sums of money to guests who complete silly challenges, Huzzy Bhai has become one of the world’s most-watched creators. He reached 48th place in the Global Sub Top 50 by adding 253,000 new subscribers during our most recent seven-day measurement period.
Here’s what I find really interesting about these international MrBeast clones: They’re not just adapting Jimmy Donaldson’s signature formula, but also following his lead as he experiments with new ideas and formats. If the OG MrBeast utilizes a certain strategy, you had better believe the Pakistani MrBeast is going to use it, too.
In the case of Huzzy Bhai, MrBeast’s pivot to short-form content can’t be ignored. Donaldson refitted and reimagined his videos for vertical consumption, and that’s what allowed him to conquer our Top 50. In countries like India and Pakistan, where short-form is the most dominant content format, those adaptations allow previously anonymous channels to become bigger than many of their compatriots.
If you watched the Huzzy Bhai video I embedded above, you’ll notice that he also uses dubbing tools to bring his videos to English speakers across the globe. Thats also a preferred tactic for MrBeast, and it’s a big help to all the international creators who try to ape his style. As dubbing becomes more accessible on YouTube, creators like Alejo Igoa are seeing their numbers rise to some of the highest points they’ve reached thus far.
MrBeast may have played an unintentional role in the rise of Alejo Igoa, but these technical assets ensure that Igoa and his ilk can maintain high chart positions even if the real MrBeast falls off. Donaldson taught many creators how to expand around the world, and they are building on that work themselves.
Therefore, we can expect to see more creators like Huzzy Bhai in the Global Sub Top 50 moving forward. Maybe MrBeast will host the Oscars in the future, but after that, it could be Alejo Igoa’s turn to get the gig.
