This week, eight YouTube channels collected at least 500 million weekly views. Most of those are channels that will be familiar to longtime readers of our charts, but a few of them were completely out of the rankings a year ago.

Family channels come in all shapes and sizes
T-Series is still the #1 channel in the Global Top 50. The Indian record label continued its dominant run by picking up 875.4 million weekly views. We’re halfway through October, and T-Series has put together a perfect month so far. Will that trend continue?
There are a few family-friendly channels that are coming close to equalling T-Series’ impressive numbers. High rankers in this week’s Global Top 50 include Toys and Colors (#2), J House jr. (#5), and Leika Garudita (#14).
Then there are some family channels that depict their nuclear units in their thumbnails. KL BRO Biju Rithvik (#5) features the adventures of a six-person Indian family, while Cool Items (#30) comes in with five members. Two Canadian channels — Sierra & Rhia FAM and Diary of 4 — feature classic four-person families. Maybe that traditional feel explains why Canada’s two biggest family channels have grown consistently over the past year.
Sierra and Rhia is the higher-ranked of the two. It just earned a fourth-place finish thanks to its 639.6 million weekly views.
The power of the diss
As we learned when Kendrick Lamar and Drake went at it earlier this year, YouTube can be a powerful way to publicize a rap beef. The biggest feud in 2020s hip-hop is now behind us, but YouTube channels are still making bank thanks to the universal appeal of a good diss.
A good example of this trend is a channel known simply as Music Media. Though it only got its start on YouTube this past July, it was already an established purveyor of musical content on TikTok. Now it’s also thriving on YouTube, where its references to rap beefs past and present helped it reach 46th place in the Global Top 50.
Music Media is teaching a lesson to Top 50 music hubs like Maryna Aksenov (#12) and Jason Derulo (#43): Positivity has its place, but if you want to see a traffic uptick, don’t be afraid to go negative.
Move over, Squishmallows
There’s a new squish toy game in town, and its name is FuFu Squishy. That’s the name of the channel that just broke into the Global Top 50 after spending some time bubbling under the ranking. One week after claiming the 63rd-most weekly views on YouTube, FuFu Squishy moved up to 39th by collecting 249.1 million weekly views.
As its name implies, FuFu Squishy helps viewers explore the wide world of DIY squeeze toys. The channel’s Shorts show that the squishiemaking process can be complex, but ultimately rewarding. Sure, you could just go buy a Squishmallow at the store, but it probably won’t look like a blue Oreo or come with a host of scraping ASMR sounds.

There’s a whole world of squishy videos out there on YouTube, and FuFu might just be the biggest channel of the bunch. Its toys may be springy and pliable, but there’s nothing soft about its creative effort.

This week, 35 channels in the Top 50 are primarily active on YouTube Shorts.
