The last week of March brought a few surprises to our Global Top 50 ranking.

The channel that got the most YouTube views during our most recent seven-day measurement period is occupying the #1 spot for the first time this year. The four channels chasing it all picked up at least 500 million views during the week that was.
Chart Toppers
Anaya Kandhal is a precocious youngster and the face of the #1 channel in our Global Top 50. Anaya and her family create family-oriented skits, which are uploaded to Shorts and enjoyed by viewers across the Indian subcontinent. Anaya’s week-to-week success is a reminder of just how big India’s non-English-speaking (or “bharat”) audience truly is. The primary Kandhal channel picked up 592.1 million weekly views to move within a stone’s throw of 20 billion lifetime views.
Another staple of YouTube’s Indian community is in second place in the Global Top 50. T-Series reached the #1 spot last week by entertaining its 262 million subscribers with an array of music videos and film clips. The firm that describes itself as India’s top record label didn’t soar quite as high during the final week of March, but it did pick up 584.5 million weekly views to claim second place in our worldwide ranking. With more than 250 billion lifetime views, T-Series is YouTube’s all-time most-watched hub.
The channel in the #3 spot achieved its highest-ever ranking in the Global Top 50 by riding a week-over-week traffic bump of 34%. Craftsman Vision moved up from 11th place by capitalizing on the Shorts community’s interest in videos that feature machinery and construction site settings. The Hong Kong-based hub registered 546.2 million weekly views, and it’s set for a big milestone next week, when it is projected to get its three-billionth view on its primary YouTube home.
ToRung is up next in the Global Top 50. The Vietnam-based comedy hub has earned several #1 finishes in our chart during the 2024 calendar year, but it had to settle for fourth this week even though it increased its traffic by 11% week-over-week. That uptick gave ToRung a total of 524.1 million weekly views, which is a solid showing for the channel that broke the ten-billion lifetime view mark a week ago. I’m sure this Southeast Asian funnyman will keep the momentum going with more silly thumbnails.
For the second week in a row, Sierra and Rhia FAM rounds out the global top five. The Canadian family hub collected 519.6 million weekly views, most of which came on YouTube Shorts.
Top Gainers
The YouTube Shorts community has made its own face masks. It’s made its own slime. Now, there’s a new DIY project captivating vertical video viewers: Homemade squish toys.
One channel benefitting from the latest DIY craze (or perhaps fueling it) is Joy Bamm. That’s the name of one of two Korean representatives in this week’s Global Top 50. (The other one is longtime Top 50 stalwart KIMPRO.)
Joy Bamm’s most-watched Shorts all feature homemade squishy blobs that are crafted into cute shapes. For all the foodies out there, Joy Bamm provides recipes for toys shaped like corn and grapes. I wouldn’t try to eat them, though. If those creations don’t look so appetizing, check out the #1 Shorts video in the Joy Bamm library: A jiggly little ladybird.
These videos propelled Joy Bamm to its best week ever in our Global Top 50. The South Korea-based channel cracked the chart after increasing its viewership by 85% week-over-week. That surge brought Joy Bamm up to 36th place in our worldwide ranking. It reached that spot thanks to the 279.9 million weekly views it picked up; that total brought its lifetime YouTube viewership above three billion.
The secret of Joy Bamm’s success seems to be Nano Tape, the sheer adhesive product that is listed as a must-have component in many of the channel’s DIY squishies. I’m not rushing out to buy nano tape myself, but I get the appeal. Squishmallows aren’t free, but making your own toys at home won’t cost you a thing.
