Markiplier drops trailer for his feature film directorial debut ‘Iron Lung’

Markiplier‘s directorial debut has moved one step closer to its theatrical release. The creator known for his gaming videos has shared a teaser trailer for Iron Lung, an adaptation of the video game of the same name.

Iron Lung is a horror game in which players encounter terrifying horrors within a subnautical environment. Markiplier (real name Mark Fischbach) played the game on his channel shortly after its release. His YouTube channel reaches more than 35 million subscribers, and it has picked up over 20 billion lifetime views to date.

In April of this year, Markiplier revealed that he would write, direct, and co-produce an Iron Lung film adaptation. The Ohio native is financing the picture out of his own pocket, with Will Hyde and Jeff Guerrero serving as co-producers. The cast will include Markiplier himself as well as Caroline Rose Kaplan. Based on comments made by Iron Lung developer David Szymanski, Irish gamer Jacksepticeye could appear in the film as well, though that rumor is unconfirmed.

Even after the arrival of the Iron Lung trailer, it’s tough to draw too many conclusions about the film adaptation. All that we can ascertain is that the movie will include buckets of blood, though that was already a fair assumption even before any footage appeared on Markiplier’s channel.

Though Markiplier seems excited to show off his directorial chops, his first film doesn’t yet have an official release date. The creator explained that his theatrical project has been affected by work stoppages in the entertainment industry. He is a member of SAG-AFTRA himself and has been on strike alongside the actors’ union. So the moviegoing public will have to wait for the resolution of that ongoing dispute before witnessing Markiplier’s big-screen foray.
