The founders of Kick are in the Club as their new platform comes out of beta

After co-founding the virtual casino Stake.com in 2017, Australian entrepreneurs Bijan Tehrani and Ed Craven set their sights on live streaming with the launch of Kick. Now, Tehrani and Craven are diving deeper into the creator world by announcing the official launch of their new platform: Club.

Club, true to its name, is a home for superfan communities centered around individual creators. Creators can use the platform to launch spaces that unite multiple revenue streams. Subscriptions, tipping, paywalled content, and an in-app currency called Club Cash are all part of the monetization equation. The idea is to consolidate all those resources so that creators can operate with nimble efficiency in close proximity to their biggest fans.

To launch Club, Tehrani and Craven teamed up with Henrik Pohlmann, who serves as the platform’s CEO. Club launched in beta earlier this year, and the initial results were promising. According to a press release, one creator’s Club page already has more than 30,000 members. In total, Club accumulated 100,000 members during its beta period.

As Club emerges out of beta, its founders are launching a corresponding app. “Creators deserve a platform that supports their success,” Tehrani said in a statement. “With the official launch of Club and its app, it’s now easier than ever for creators to build lasting businesses around the audiences they’ve worked hard to grow.”

When Tehrani and Craven launched Kick, they turned heads with some splashy signings that brought some of the internet’s biggest streamers to the then-new platform. Club’s launch is supported by another expensive publicity stunt. To acquire the Club.com domain, the platform’s founders paid $10 million, making the transaction one of the most costly domain sales of all time.

As Kick has matured, however, its leadership team has moved away from headline-grabbing streamer signings. These days, sustainable monetization is the name of the game on Kick — hence the recent launch of mid-roll ads across the platform’s streams.

Club is following a similar roadmap. Its high-profile founders may get creators through the door, but the robust array of monetization options will keep them active. As part of its official launch, Club is adding a feature called Communities, which adds more social elements to the platform.

Creator platforms are abundant these days, but few can match Club’s combination of deep pockets and relevant executive experience. If you want to check out the new platform, you can visit the $10 million URL and see for yourself.
