Meta is spending billions on AI research and development, and a new Facebook product passes some of those innovations on to creators. After soft-launching its reimagined Creator Studio earlier in the summer, Facebook is giving that dashboard a full rollout and pitching it as a must-have tool for bootstrapping users.
Creator Studio is not a piece of the Facebook platform; it’s a separate app that delivers AI-powered insights and engagement stats. Creators can synthesize those data points as they plan forthcoming posts and focus on making their media strategies more efficient.
The hub shares its name with the Creator Studio Facebook launched in 2020 and sunsetted three years later. The OG Creator Studio, however, existed before the contemporary AI boom. As Facebook looked to relaunch its creator dashboard, it built in an AI assistant that is capable of sussing out the strategies and topics that are trending across Meta’s apps.
The first version of the relaunched Studio arrived in June, when Meta partnered with a group of Facebook creators to test its technology. A more recent update reveals the results of that initial experiment. Food and wellness creator Mymanabites said that she gained 4,000 followers from a single post after using a format Creator Studio recommended to her. Family creator Michael Tushouse claimed to more than double his earnings after following Creator Studio’s advice regarding his top-performing videos.
“Initially, I thought, ‘Great, this is just one more app I have to tap on my phone,’ but it turns out that because it’s separate, that’s what makes Creator Studio great,” said comedy creator Becky Bee Social. “It’s been a super big help for focusing and just doing the job instead of getting lost in the scroll.”
The people Facebook recruited for its Creator Studio experiment love the new product, but what about the rest of the Facebook community? Mark Zuckerberg’s indulgent essay on artificial intelligence, titled “The Future Is For Everyone,” has been savaged by AI skeptics. The Verge called Zuck’s vision “An AI future of sleek, streamlined, and totally empty relationships.”
Meta is hoping that it can change prevailing narratives by making AI work better. Creator Studio has delivered results for its first wave of users. Now, we’ll find out how the general public feels about the ballyhooed relaunch.
