MrBeast poaches team from creator economy startup to staff rumored brand matchmaking hub

Among many other plans at his company Beast Industries, the super-creator known as MrBeast intends to launch a service that will play the matchmaker between creators and brands. To succeed in such a crowded corner of the creator economy, MrBeast needs an awesome team on his side, and he thinks he’s found it at Pietra.

That’s the name of a venture-backed startup that recently saw a substantial portion of its workforce move over to Beast Industries. According to Business Insider, Pietra Co-Founder and CEO Ronak Trivedi is one of a “significant” number of Pietra employees who have been poached by MrBeast’s company.

Trivedi played an instrumental role in the development of Pietra, which raised millions by selling itself as a facilitator of creator-led product lines. That pitch appealed to Andreessen Horowitz, which was one of Pietra’s seed-round backers. To date, the startup has raised $36 million of VC funding.

Pietra’s recent moves have included the launch of an agentic AI solution, and that type of development seems like the kind of thing that would fit into a matchmaking service. MrBeast has dropped hints about his planned brand marketing hub since bringing on Jeffrey Housenbold to lead the company now known as Beast Industries. Last year, MrBeast (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson) and Housenbold teased their matchmaking service during an appearance at the New York Times‘ DealBook Summit.

Of course, marketing is hardly the only field on Donaldson’s mind as he builds up Beast Industries. Other recent developments have included a clipping tool called Vyro and a toy line launched alongside Moose Toys.

MrBeast has employed a few different hiring strategies at Beast Industries, but lately, he seems to prefer in-house expansion over external partnerships. Rather than risking a repeat of the MrBeast Burger debacle, Donaldson can port over entire teams that possess expertise in specific fields. His acquisition of Step, for example, seems as if it will form the foundation of a rumored financial services firm.

In the case of Pietra, Beast Industries is not acquiring Trivedi’s company. Instead, Pietra will continue on with a new CEO.

Trivedi and his Pietra cohort will join a growing Beast Industries team that also includes Google alum Shiva Rajaraman. Per Business Insider, development related to the brand-creator platform will occur at Beast Industries’ new product and engineering office in San Mateo, California.

There’s still much we don’t know about the planned matchmaking service. For starters, Donaldson hasn’t even formally announced it yet. But his latest hiring spree shows that he’s taking his move into creator marketing seriously. He’s building a strong team that will ensure that his firm can compete in an increasingly noisy market.
