A new month has brought significant changes to the Global Top 50 ranking. KIMPRO, the Korean hub that got more YouTube views in November than any other channel, finished fifth in the first chart of the last month. Jasmin and James, a couple channel known for its affiliation with Cadel and Mia (#3 in the ranking) surged up to first place after collecting 1.63 million weekly YouTube views.

This week’s ranking is particularly interesting, since it arrives right after YouTube dropped its year-end recap for 2025. That review showed that Shorts is currently the most powerful cultural driver on the platform, so let’s see how that idea translated to the latest Global Top 50 running order:
YouTube’s biggest game isn’t showing any signs of slowing down
Roblox was all over YouTube’s year-end recap. Creators like Caylus challenged MrBeast’s title as the top creator on the platform, minigames like Steal a Brainrot became big business, and even advertisers got in on the action.
Those of us who write about YouTube for a living have watched Minecraft dominate the platform’s gaming subculture for more than a decade, so it still feels unfamiliar to see any other game atop the YouTube leaderboard. But Roblox hasn’t just gotten bigger than Minecraft — its lead seems to be growing with each passing week.
That trend is evident in the latest edition of the Global Top 50, in which yet another Roblox channel has made its first chart appearance. The name of the hub in question is Roblonarium, and that portmanteau is also an accurate description of the channel’s content. The genres featured among Roblonarium’s most-watched Shorts range from comedy to challenges to (of course) gaming, but the common thread between them all is the presence of Roblox-created machinima.
Roblox is a creative tool first and foremost, and its versatility powers channels like Roblonarium. In the real world, you would never want to hit your friend with the backswing of a hammer, but Roblox can make fantastical situations into actual scenarios.
That creative spirit is keeping Roblox on top of the YouTube leaderboard. Roblonarium finished 47th in the Global Top 50 after picking up 298.2 million weekly views during the first week of December. That sum was good for a week-over-week increase of 16%.
The truth is, YouTube Shorts creators will flock to any game that lets their creative juices flow. Roblox just happens to be the most convenient and accessible sandbox out there. Other channels in the Global Top 50, such as Rowdy Playz, find other virtual canvases they can use to set up their popular short-form video concepts.
So if you want to know how to dethrone Roblox from the top of the YouTube tower, there’s your answer: Any game that aids players’ creativity is bound to be a hit on Shorts. Just ask Rowdy Playz.
This trend is not just a big deal for the creators who play games like Roblox. It’s also a significant competitive advantage for YouTube, which has established itself as the go-to source for on-demand video game skits.
With Netflix set to eat Warner Bros. and potentially level up its gaming library along the way, YouTube’s competitive edge is a big deal. Everyone wants video game content, but none can deliver it with the same ease or efficiency as Google’s video hub.
