[Tubefilter Charts is a periodic rankings column from Tubefilter with data provided by GospelStats. MrBeast has spread his activity across platforms like Instagram and Facebook while also expanding into big-budget content with some help from Amazon. But no matter how far the MrBeast brand spreads, the epicenter of Jimmy Donaldson‘s digital output can still be found on YouTube.
Subscribe to get the latest creator news
That’s where the main MrBeast channel gained 12 million new subscribers during the month of March. Only two other channels in the U.S. Top 100 even managed one-third of that total. It’s safe to say that Donaldson is still the #1 creator in the world, at least as far as subscriber acquisition goes.
We like sports and we don’t care who knows
So what is MrBeast doing to entertain millions of new fans? The channel’s main man is introducing his subscribers to the sport of basketball.
Donaldson recently announced a partnership with Fede Vigevani, one of the largest creators in Latin America. The two YouTube stars will put on an Anglophone vs. Hispanophone showdown that will feature some of the most notable names in the creator game.
So why basketball? If you want to answer that question, look to one of the creators who is an odds-on favorite to participate in MrBeast’s competition: Jesser. The man behind the Bucket Squad brand has become a dominant force in the world of sports content, and March 2025 was arguably his best month yet.
He got 1.8 million new subscribers over a 31-day period to move into sixth place in the U.S. Top 100. While he continues to wow viewers with basketball-adjacent long-form videos, his short-form activity has pushed him into the top ten in our ranking. Some of his YouTube Shorts uploads are now approaching 200 million lifetime views.
Jesser has never played in a Sidemen charity football match, but the creator group’s annual series clearly has something to do with the growing popularity of sports content on social media. Take iShowSpeed, for example. The Ohio-born star wows subscribers with recaps of his appearances across the globe, but when you look at his most-viewed Shorts, soccer becomes a common theme.
Speed already collaborated with soccer legends like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. After participating in the most recent Sidemen charity match, he got to add another sports-powered Short to his library. His race against top stars like MrBeast and Logan Paul has been liked more than 3.2 million times on Shorts.
Creator sports events are fun for fans and lucrative for players and partner charities. These videos show another benefit to those large-scale gatherings: Shorts views. Subscribers want to see coverage from influencer sports showdowns, and both Jesser and Speed are providing the goods.
Channel Distribution
This month, 78 channels in the Top 100 are primarily active on YouTube Shorts.
