Even though the Academy Awards brought viewership upticks to film-focused YouTube channels, traffic was down week-over-week near the top of our Global Top 50.

Six channels finished the week with at least 500 million YouTube views, but none had more than 600 million. Here are some details about the first five finishers in the chart:
Chart Toppers
T-Series is back on top of the Global Top 50 for the second time this month. The most-watched YouTube channel of all time added to its impressive lifetime total by picking up 596 million weekly views. That put T-Series within a stone’s throw of 250 billion lifetime views; it should become the first YouTube channel to reach that milestone next week. The Indian record label also leads YouTube in terms of subscribers, but its margin in that category is declining, with MrBeast sitting just 16 million subscribers behind T-Series’ mark.
Last week’s #1 fell back to the runner-up position during the middle week of May. Rainbow Friends Fans is still a serious contender in our Global Top 50 (and the breakout star of 2024, as far as these charts are concerned), but the hub focused on Gen Alpha culture lost 16% of its traffic week-over-week. Even with that dip, there are still a lot of viewers who enjoy this channel’s titular Roblox game. Rainbow Friends Fans surged past three billion lifetime YouTube hits thanks to its 590.8 million weekly views.
ToRung jumped up 20 places week-over-week to finish third in the Global Top 50. The Vietnamese comedy channel is nearing ten billion lifetime views on YouTube, and much of that traffic has come during the first few months of 2024. With its spicy thumbnails and silly situations, ToRung has earned multiple #1 finishes in our worldwide ranking. His hot streak continued during our latest seven-day measurement period, when he counted 531.4 million weekly views.
Sierra & Rhia FAM, like ToRung, surged into the global top five by riding some big week-over-week gains. The Canadian family channel increased its YouTube viewership by 26%, thanks in large part to fun-loving videos shared on Shorts. Sierra & Rhia’s uptick brought their channel from 11th place in the Global Top 50 up to fourth, where they sit with 514.9 million weekly views. Their 13.3 million subscribers rank third-highest among the top five channels in this week’s rankings.
KL BRO Biju Rithvik rounds out this week’s global top five. The short-form channel, known for engaging non-English-speaking Indian viewers on YouTube, picked up 509.7 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
Channels focused on machinery, assembly lines, and construction sites are trending up on YouTube Shorts, and the popular category of “oddly satisfying” videos may be responsible.
To explain what I mean, let’s take a look at Craftsman Vision, a channel that has broken into the top ten in our Global Top 50. Some popular Shorts channels can be mystifying (especially the ones that trade in Gen Alpha humor), but this one is self-explanatory. Its videos depict all manners of skilled craftspeople and show the work it takes to work in a trade.
The most-watched videos on Craftsman Vision tell a different story. With their super-straight lines and level surfaces, they appeal to viewers who seek out oddly satisfying content on YouTube. That niche is so popular on Shorts that channels put it in their name even when their videos are not particularly satisfying or unsatisfying. But Craftsman Vision delivers for oddly satisfying fans, one plugged leak at a time.
The results have been sensational. Craftsman Vision moved from tenth place in the Global Top 50 up to seventh after increasing its YouTube traffic by 20% week-over-week. Its seven-day total topped out at 495.5 million weekly views, putting it just short of our top tier of chart entrants.
With a little more work on those construction sites, Craftsman Vision can break the top five. That’s what another tool-oriented channel, MaviGadget, has accomplished many times. This week, MaviGadget dropped down to 26th place in the Global Top 50.
