Pocket.watch appoints YouTube Kids exec Lauren Glaubach to its board

Pocket.watch already works with some of the most prominent family creators on YouTube, and with its latest board appointment, it’s continuing to shape its strategy on the leading video platform. The self-described “kids and family creator content and IP company” has added YouTube vet Lauren Glaubach to its board of directors.

Across more than a decade of experience at YouTube, Glaubach has headed numerous initiatives tied to the platform’s kid-friendly hub. In her most recent role as the Director and Global Head of Youth Partnerships & Programming, she led content initiatives while directing the team that managed more than 500 partner channels, including traditional media outlets and homegrown YouTube creators.

Glaubach played an instrumental role in the development of safeguards that ensure a child-safe experience on YouTube Kids. She also guided the rise of short-form video among families, igniting a trend that has reshaped our weekly viewership charts.

The insider YouTube Shorts knowledge Glaubach has accumulated will be valuable as she counsels pocket.watch on its strategy. The family creator company works with some of the biggest channels on Shorts, including Toys and Colors, which topped our monthly viewership ranking last November.

Glaubach plans to help locate more channels that are breaking out on Shorts and primed to benefit from pocket.watch’s assistance. “Kids and family programming is in a transformational moment, where the largest global franchises and the most popular characters and creators are digital first. And while many of these creators are breaking viewership records, they don’t necessarily have the support to navigate global distribution and diversified business opportunities,” Glaubach said in a statement.

“I believe this provides a unique opportunity for collaboration worldwide, which is why I am so looking forward to joining pocket.watch,” she added. “Our philosophies around the power of storytelling and the value of independent creators completely align.”

Pocket.watch currently counts about one billion subscribers and 681 billion lifetime YouTube views across its network of family-friendly channels. It continues to add to its roster as well; a November 2023 wave of signings brought short-form stars like Daniel Labelle and The McClure Twins into the fold.

Those creators joined preexisting pocket.watch partners, who are expanding their reach through a litany of off-YouTube opportunities. One of pocket.watch’s biggest stars, Ryan Kaji of Ryan’s World, is set to start in the company’s first feature film, which is due out later this year.
