YouTube’s TikTok-style video editing suite is now available in 21 countries

YouTube is inviting creators across the globe to check out its suite of video editing tools. The YouTube Create app, which launched in the U.S. last September, is now available in 21 countries.

Neal Mohan announced YouTube Create at an event called “Made On” in New York City. At the time, the YouTube CEO said the product could “empower creators to get started with a suite of production tools to edit their Shorts, longer videos, or both.” Despite that versatility, YouTube Create looks most familiar to users who apply it to their short-form videos. The editing tool bears a resemblance to CapCut, the ByteDance-owned app that is often used to create and edit TikToks.

Initially, YouTube Create was limited to users in eight countries. On February 28, YouTube announced that it was more than doubling the number of regions that have access to the cross-format editing suite. The 13 newly added countries include YouTube-loving territories like Brazil, Canada, and Turkey, where some of the most popular Shorts channels in the world are based. A full list of countries with access to YouTube Create can be found here.

A blog post attributed to YouTube Create Product Manager Kelly Lau-Lee takes readers through the feature’s editing process. Creators can record videos in the app before choosing from thousands of royalty-free songs and an equally massive number of effects, filters, and stickers. Additional tools serve users who need to remove excessive background noise or match specific moments to a musical beat.

“YouTube Create is seamlessly integrated to YouTube, so you can easily create and start publishing Shorts and longer videos right to your channel with the tap of a button,” Lau-Lee wrote. “There’s much more to come with YouTube Create as we continue to build the product in partnership with our global community of creators, so stay tuned!”

Create is not the only editing tool YouTube has brought to Shorts. It recently revealed Remix, which lets users incorporate their favorite music tracks into their short-form videos.
