Blippi is collaborating with Big Bird and Elmo thanks to a Sesame Street partnership

The newest resident on Sesame Street wears bright orange suspenders and a bowtie to match. The Sesame Workshop has collaborated with Blippi on a series of videos that will be released across both brands’ respective channels.

The partnership launches on February 3 and features Sesame Street characters like Big Bird, ElmoAbby, and Herb the Dinosaur. They’ll meet up with Blippi (whose real name is Stevin John) and his friend Meekah (real name Kaitlin Becker), who both lead educational adventures for Blippi’s 19.3 million YouTube subscribers.

In their collabs with Sesame Street characters, Blippi and Meekah will operate an excavator, give Big Bird a paleontology lesson, and help Abby plan a surprise party for Elmo. The partnership includes multiple original songs to go along with its positive messaging and scientific syllabus. It’s unclear whether Elmo will ask viewers how they’re doing.

Blippi General Manager Kaitlyn Hall said that she grew up with Sesame Street and is thrilled to be partnering with an “iconic brand” that her kids still enjoy today. “We are always trying to bring our fans new, interesting and engaging partnerships and Blippi fits that mold,” added Sesame Workshop VP of Multimedia Programming & Content Strategy Jennifer Gioia

in a statement of her own. “We are thrilled to have our beloved Muppet friends Big Bird, Abby, and Elmo join Blippi’s journey of exploring the world around them.”

Sesame Street has long been active on YouTube, where its videos sometimes receive more than 100 million weekly views. The Sesame Workshop’s exploration of the YouTube landscape has led to collaborations with several of the platform’s homegrown creators, including Rosanna Pansino and Pentatonix.

Beyond YouTube, both Sesame Street and Blippi have ties to streaming services. The former brand is set to debut a “revamped” version of its flagship show in 2025, after the conclusion of its current deal with Max. Blippi, which is owned by CoComelon media company Moonbug, is available on Netflix, where Meekah has her own show.
