MrBeast’s X video made $250k in 6 days. But there’s a catch.

The results from MrBeast‘s “so how much money can creators make on X, anyway” test are in.

In six days, his video made $263,655 from 156.7 million impressions and 5.2 million engagements. That’s around $1,690 per million impressions.

For context, according to MrBeast’s manager/Night founder and CEO Reed Duchscher, the average creator makes between $3,000 and $5,000 per million views on YouTube. So, by uploading his videos to X, MrBeast is making between 34% and 56% as much as he’d make uploading them to YouTube.

But there’s a catch. MrBeast himself says so.

“[I]t’s a bit of a facade,” he said in a tweet announcing the ad rev results. “Advertisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think) and thus my revenue per view is prob higher than what you’d experience.”

That’s likely true. Elon Musk‘s ongoing attempts to woo MrBeast (and other creators) to post their stuff on X has made news, including here on Tubefilter. And MrBeast’s announcement that he was going to put X ad revenue to the test has been a major topic over the past week, so advertisers had plenty of notice and reason to snap up space on his video.

The test has also been a controversial topic: There have been allegations that MrBeast’s video was being promoted on X users’ timelines unusually frequently, sometimes as an undisclosed ad. And, with this results reveal, there’ve also been accusations that he’s getting paid an inflated rate compared to other content creators on X.

We don’t know whether any of that is true or not. X doesn’t publicize its RPM or how it works out what it pays individual creators. It also doesn’t say whether some creators are selectively paid more than others. Some commenters under MrBeast’s results tweet have indicated X pays out from one central pool with a set amount of money per day, the way TikTok’s first creator fund did. That’s a possibility. However payouts are calculated, it’s not clear whether MrBeast might be getting an inflated rate as a carrot to keep uploading videos on X. (But based on his comment, he’s obviously aware he could be getting paid more than most people.)

So, what’s next? MrBeast didn’t say whether he’ll continue uploading on X. He did say, though, that–in typical MrBeast fashion–he’s giving away $250,000 of the money he made. Ten people who repost this tweet will get $25,000 apiece. Winners will be announced Jan. 25.
