The kids (and adults) of Recess Therapy will interview stars on the Golden Globes red carpet

The child stars of Recess Therapy may not be old enough to join an award show voting committee, but they have enough moxie to keep up with the biggest stars in Hollywood — and that’s exactly what’s happening on January 7. Recess Therapy host Julian Shapiro-Barnum and two of his young co-stars will conduct red carpet interviews ahead of the 2024 Golden Globes.

Snippets from Recess Therapy’s red carpet interviews will be posted across the Golden Globes’ social channels. The 81st edition of the annual gala begins at 8 PM on the 7th, with CBS serving as the show’s TV broadcaster for the first time since 1982. The Globes will also stream on Paramount+.

Recess Therapy’s stint as the Globes’ official red carpet interviewer will put another feather in Shapiro-Barnum’s cap. By sharing his playtime interactions with a recurring cast of local schoolchildren, the Recess Therapy host has attracted nearly three million Instagram followers to go along with more than one million YouTube subscribers. Shapiro-Barnum’s best-known interviewee is the so-called Corn Kid, who expressed his love for all things maize in a 2022 viral video.

Doing Things Media is the owner of the Recess Therapy brand. The media company raised a $21.5 million funding round in 2022.

As Shapiro-Barnum hobnobs with the Hollywood elite, he’ll be joined by Amina and Avery, both of whom have appeared in Recess Therapy videos. They may not possess the name recognition of the Corn Kid, but they have experience with celebrity interactions. Amina, for example, joined Shapiro-Barnum when he sat down with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. Other Recess Therapy guests have included Olivia Rodrigo, Maya Rudolph, and Drew Barrymore.

Dick Clark Productions (which also co-produces the Streamy Awards alongside Tubefilter) is responsible for Recess Therapy’s red carpet gig. In recent years, the Golden Globes producer has regularly tapped creators for pre-show coverage. Last year, Dick Clark Productions brought in Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg, who used her flirtatious screen presence to produce several viral moments.

The Golden Globes celebrate the best of film and TV. Barbie is this year’s most-nominated movie, while Succession is the most-nominated TV show.
