Kai Cenat’s collab with Nicki Minaj broke a Twitch record with 348,593 concurrent viewers

Kai Cenat has broken one of his own records thanks to an assist from a celebrity guest. The streamer set a new high-water mark for the most concurrent Twitch viewers during his collab with rapper Nicki Minaj.

Cenat and Minaj combined to draw a peak viewership of 348,593 concurrents, according to data from Streams Charts. The stream celebrated Trini culture (Cenat’s mother hails from Minaj’s homeland) while testing Twitch’s new content guideline. After learning that the streaming platform relaxed its policy on nudity, Minaj performed a celebratory twerk.

The previous record for concurrent viewers — also held by Cenat — stood at 306,280. The Bronx native (who celebrates his 22nd birthday on December 16) has smashed numerous records during his rise to streaming stardom. At the 2023 Streamy Awards, Cenat bagged the Streamer of the Year trophy for the second consecutive year.

Cenat has long coveted a collab with the so-called “Queen of Rap.” He has reacted to Minaj’s music videos on his stream, and the Trinidadian-American artist gave Cenat a shoutout after he received a brief ban from Twitch in April 2023. At the end of the year, Minaj swung through Cenat’s stream as part of her promotion tour for her new album Pink Friday 2.

The ballyhooed broadcast was initially scheduled for 11 PM ET on December 13, but Minaj’s tardiness turned the late-night show into an early-morning affair. The rapper showed up about four hours late, much to the chagrin of Cenat’s expectant fanbase. But the delay did little to stunt the stream’s momentum, especially after Minaj’s entrance.

Minaj is not the first rapper to make a guest appearance on Cenat’s stream. The Twitch star has also hosted several other notable names, including one-time Migos member Offset. Cenat has also made time for some cameos of his own. He recently enjoyed a bit part in Good Burger 2, a comedy film sequel that arrived on Paramount+ on November 22.
