Everyone can agree MrBeast hitting 200 million subs on YouTube is a big deal.

But what’s a bigger deal, IMO, is just how much of his content those subs (and the probably millions of people who also check out videos but aren’t subscribed) show up to watch.

Using Gospel Stats, I went back to the very beginning of 2020, and the numbers show MrBeast’s long-form videos were averaging 40 million views each. That’s nothing to sneeze at, obviously, but fast-forward to present day, and he’s bringing in 140 million views per long-form vid.

And his short-form views per vid? Even higher: 160 million.

(Here’s one of his latest uploads. It’s from Oct. 24 and has 125 million views.)

There’s a tendency to judge success on YouTube by number of

subscribers, but I’d argue measurable and consistent growth in metrics like these are even more important than piling on the people clicking that button and slapping that bell. MrBeast is good YouTube for lots of reasons, but maybe the most significant thing he’s good at is keeping people watching. These stats show that over the past three years, he’s nearly 4x’d his viewership per video in both short- and long-form–and those views continue to go up month after month, upload after upload.

By the time he hits 300 million subs, who knows how many views he’ll be commanding?

We’ll have to check in then to find out.

I get into all this and more with Lauren Schnipper in the latest installment of Creator Upload. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or whenever you listen. You’re gonna dig it.
