Cardi B, Anitta, Charlie Puth, Niall Horan headline TikTok’s ‘In The Mix’ concert in Arizona

TikTok is hosting an event it describes as its “first-ever global music experience.” The app will bring a concert called In The Mix to Arizona’s Sloan Park on December 10. Performers will include major pop acts like Cardi B and Anitta as well as up-and-coming artists from the TikTok Elevate program.

The four musicians who will headline In The Mix — Cardi B, Anitta, Charlie Puth, and former One Direction member Niall Horan — are Top 40 regulars who have embraced TikTok. In statements, Puth and Horan praised the app’s utility as a community-building tool.

“I love TikTok because it allows me to truly connect with the greatest fans in the world on a real level,” added Cardi B. “I can’t wait to see y’all in person at TikTok in the Mix. Arizona, get ready to party with me!”

The headliners who will pay at In The Mix may drive the most ticket sales, but the event is also an opportunity for TikTok to spotlight musicians who have made names for themselves on the app. Artists like Isabel Larosa and Kaliii, whose songs have been used as the background music for viral short-form trends, will make appearances at the event.

“No other platform mixes music, creativity and community like TikTok,” said TikTok Global Head of Music Partnerships and Programming Paul Hourican in a statement. “With In The Mix, our goal is to bring the For You feed to life for fans at the venue and on TikTok.”

Larosa and Kaliii are two members of the inaugural class of TikTok Elevate. The talent discovery program launched earlier this year to boost TikTok-famous artists who are ready for their mainstream breakouts. In The Mix will give TikTok a chance to put its homegrown talent on display.

TikTok’s status as a recording industry tastemaker has led to rapid development of its in-house audio products. A collaboration with Billboard has spawned a chart ranking the platform’s most-listened singles. Meanwhile, a standalone TikTok Music service has come to five countries, including Anitta’s homeland of Brazil, but it still hasn’t arrived Stateside.

In The Mix will be streamed via TikTok Live. Director Hamish Hamilton and production company Done+Dusted will put on the event with vertical video in mind, even though thousands of fans are also expected to attend IRL. A TikTok-only presale for In The Mix will begin on October 27. Tickets will become available for the general public on November 2. More details are available on the official In The Mix website.
