TikTok and the BBC are taking 100 creators to boot camp

The BBC appears to have changed its tune on TikTok.

Back in March, it told all staff to delete the app from their work phones. Now, it’s officially partnering with TikTok to launch a boot camp for creators.

Per Deadline, the BBC x TikTok “content lab” will take 100 creators and give them “a crash course in TV stardom, as well as helping them grow their own social media channels.”

The two-day lab will involve “in-person sessions in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland with input from experts and insights from TikTok,” and it’ll “give creators a chance to showcase their skills whilst working on a BBC brief, meet on-screen talent and BBC commissioners, learn about best practice across social media and TV, and provide an opportunity to collaborate with other social creators,” the BBC says.

To be eligible for the lab, creators must be over the age of 18, based in the U.K., and must either have 50,000 followers OR have published at least two videos that generated at least 350,000 views each.

“We’re excited to be partnering with the BBC to enable digital talent from all corners of the UK, to build the skills and expertise to turn this passion into a career,” James Stafford, TikTok’s general manager of operations and marketing in the U.K. & Nordics, said in a statement.

Creators interested in taking part can apply here.
