Musical guests on ‘Call Her Daddy’ get major traffic boosts, according to Spotify

Alex Cooper‘s Call Her Daddy has some serious song-boosting power.

According to Spotify data reported by Variety, major music artists who made guest appearances on Call Her Daddy saw significant upticks in streaming traffic in the 48 hours after their episode went live.

John Legend, who appeared on the show in March, saw a 200% spike in his Spotify streams. Madison Beer‘s went up 155% after her May appearance. Anitta had a guest spot in April that gave her a 150% boost. And the biggest surge of all went to John Mayer, whose streams went up 350% after his December 2022 episode.

Cooper attributes the upticks to her focus on “getting to know the person behind the fame and music.”

“I don’t settle for the usual questions like their favorite song on the alsbum or what song is the most fun to perform,” she told Variety. “I dive deep into their life and uncover the experiences that shaped their music and identity. As a result, fans not only fall in love with the artist but also discover new music they may have overlooked otherwise. It’s incredible to witness fans connecting with and rekindling their love for the artist and their older songs in a whole new light.”

We’re guessing Spotify is pleased with this ripple effect, considering it snagged Call Her Daddy for a reported $60 million exclusivity deal back in 2021. It’s also worth noting that Cooper and her fiancé, ACE Entertainment CEO Matt Kaplan, just announced a new podcast Trending, which is aimed at Gen Z and will probably feature more than a few music artists of the TikTok persuasion.
