Kai Cenat got banned from Twitch. Then he got a shout out from Nicki Minaj.

The past week has been a roller coaster for Kai Cenat. At the time of this post, Cenat’s stream is inaccessible due to a violation of Twitch rules. During his downtime, he received a shout-out from rapper Nicki Minaj, who identified herself as a fan of the consensus Streamer of the Year.

Twitch did not provide an official explanation for its decision to take Cenat offline, but a message on his account claims that he committed “a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.” According to Dexerto, Twitch gave Cenat the banhammer after he performed a “simulated sexual activity” on his stream.

In most cases, Twitch bans are not momentous enough to make headlines, but Cenat is a record-setter on Twitch, where his streams have reached as many as 300,000 paying subscribers. By putting him in timeout, Twitch has drawn criticism from Cenat’s supporters, and Minaj has been one of his most vocal champions. “Let the boy rock,” she said in an Instagram broadcast.

Days before his ban, Cenat had reacted to the Ice Spice song “Princess Diana,” which features a guest verse from Minaj. Evidently, the Trini-born rapper has noticed that Twitch’s biggest streamer is a fan of her music, style, and personality. “Why would they do that?” Minaj said in response to the ban. “Please leave the boy alone, I’m gonna get dressed up and go live with him.”

It seems like Cenat is down for a collab as well. As he reacted to the recognition he received from Minaj, he ran around his room screaming before calling him mom to tell her the good news.

Minaj, who is one of the world’s top influencers thanks to her 217 million Instagram followers, would be a massive get for Cenat’s Twitch stream. Of course, that can only happen once Cenat’s channel is reactivated. These bans are fairly common and are often (but not always) reversed without much fuss.

But Cenat may not want to stick around on a platform he already has problems with. Recently, the streaming supernova has flirted with rival streaming hub Kick, which expressed its admiration for him by sending him a pair of Nikes. Cenat may not be ready for such a big move, but based on his reaction to his latest shout-out, he’s prepared to do whatever it takes to secure his collab with Minaj.
