The American producer of nursery rhymes had another strong showing, being out a host of ascendant short-form channels in the process.
Chart Toppers
It’s official: Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes is going to go two months without ever vacating the top spot in our Global Top 50. For eight weeks in a row, the family-friendly animation hub has used its library of jingles and tunes to get more weekly views than any other YouTube channel. During the last full week of March, that trend continued. After passing 155 billion lifetime views, Cocomelon collected 664.3 million weekly views to solidify its position atop our worldwide ranking.
T-Series may not be able to keep up with Cocomelon at front of the Global Top 50, but the Indian record remains far ahead of the rest of the pack. It was one of just two channels to cross the half-billion view mark during the last week of March. It accomplished that feat after adding 565.3 million weekly views. T-Series may not catch Cocomelon in April, but it is all but guaranteed to surpass 220 billion lifetime views during the fourth month of the year.
SET India finished third in the latest Global Top 50. The Sony-owned channel is a lifeline for South Asian consumers who want to catch clips from local TV shows. India’s top dramas receive millions of hits on SET India, which now has more than 142 billion lifetime views on its primary channel. The hub’s latest numbers included 456.2 million weekly views, which puts SET India comfortably ahead of the rest of the Global Top 50.
Another provider of Indian TV content reached fourth place in this week’s ranking. StarPlus doesn’t have as long of a chart history as SET India, but its collection of South Asian shows has delivered two straight top-five finishes in the Global Top 50. StarPlus managed its latest chart accomplishment after collecting 413.6 million weekly views. Only one non-Indian channel ended up with a higher total.
One More rounds out this week’s global top five. The short-form hub is one of the channels operated by the Limassol, Cyprus-based media company TheSoul Publishing. Over seven days, One More picked up 394.9 million weekly views, topping all other YouTube Shorts channels.
Top Gainers
Last week, I wrote about David Beck, a creator who gets millions of views with water balloons while staying dry the whole time. Beck’s channel growth is impressive, but the phenomenon of balloon videos on YouTube Shorts is not limited to the United States. There’s a young creator in Egypt whose balloon-bursting videos are even outpacing Beck’s: Say hello to Omar Star.
Presumably, Omar is the name of the little kid who appears in the channel’s short-form videos. I’m making that assumption because said kid is clearly the star of this channel. Omar Star videos regularly run up millions of views by depicting Omar’s playtime. He enjoys soda and ball games but his real passion is balloons. His popping technique produces colorful Shorts that fall squarely into YouTube’s “oddly satisfying” genre.

Omar’s mom attempts to stop him from popping, as if he’s being naughty. But these videos are no accident. Over seven days at the end of March, Omar Star picked up 222.1 million weekly views, which was 21% more traffic than the channel’s total from the seven previous days. Omar and his mom were Egypt’s only representatives in the Global Top 50, topping out in 46th place.
Turns out that the mix of parenting, bright colors, and oddly satisfying moments is a potent combination. Omar may just be having fun, but he’s also following some of the strongest YouTube Shorts trends. I guess that’s what makes him a star.
