The chart-topper isn’t the only success story in this chart, as 15 different channels earned at least 300 million weekly views.
Chart Toppers
Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes has unseated T-Series at the top of our worldwide ranking. The American hub, which offers animations and jingles to preschool-age audiences around the globe, is the first channel from its home country to lead our Global Top 50 in 2023. It increased its viewership by 49% week-over-week after finishing third in this ranking seven days ago. After adding 786.2 million weekly views, Cocomelon has now received 150 billion lifetime views on its main YouTube hub.
Second place is unfamiliar territory for T-Series, but the Indian channel’s streak of #1 finishes is over. The record label ended up as the runner-up in the Global Top 50 despite picking up 701 million weekly views. Though that total would be a record-breaking number for most channels, it represented a 6% week-over-week dip for T-Series. The South Asian entertainment destination still leads YouTube with 235 million subscribers.
For the second week in a row, Aja Kitchen is the highest-ranking YouTube Shorts channel in the Global Top 50. The Indian channel delivers recipes, laughs, and slices of life from the home of an elderly couple. That formula brought it 590.4 million weekly views during the first week of February. Aja’s rapid rise has now brought more than four billion lifetime views to its home base on YouTube.
Kids Diana Show ranked fourth in the latest Global Top 50. The U.S.-based channel is the home of a Ukrainian-born girl who has ascended — alongside her entire family — to YouTube stardom. As Diana’s brother Roma sees his own YouTube growth, the family’s leading lady is surging up our charts. By collecting 497.8 million weekly views, Kids Diana Show increased its traffic by 66% week-over-week and moved up from 17th to fourth in our worldwide ranking.
SET India rounds out this week’s global top five. The Sony-owned entertainment destination rose three spots after accruing 475 million views during the week that was.
Top Gainers
Aside from the United States and India, the country with the most representatives in this week’s Global Top 50 is Vietnam. The Southeast Asian nation — which boasts one of the largest TikTok audiences in the world — has become a hotbed for short-form content.
Him Channel provides visitors with a selection of Vietnam’s biggest short-form hits. The vertical video hub showed up in our Global Top 50 last year and has since become a regular chart presence. During the first week of February, Him Channel collected 205.8 million weekly views to land in 43rd place in the Global Top 50. The Vietnamese hub placed 82nd in our ranking seven days prior but moved up thanks to a 28% week-over-week viewership bump.
The top five Shorts on the Him Channel all feature variations on the same title. Roughly translated, those videos offer the best short-form clips that received millions of views in 2022. If Him Channel’s content is any indication, Vietnamese viewers really liked “oddly satisfying” videos last year. A brief depiction of a potato-dicing machine has brought more than 271 million views to the Him Channel.
If I had a device like that, I would eat french fries every day of the week. After all, how many contraptions are convenient and satisfying enough to get millions of short-form views?
