Mizkif has been suspended from OTK’s board for “lack of empathy and ignorance”

Gaming org One True King (OTK) has suspended founding member and co-owner Mizkif from its board for the “lack of empathy and ignorance” he displayed during his self-dubbed “comeback stream” in October 2022.

Mizkif was suspended from OTK as a whole back in September 2022, after accusations that he helped cover up a sexual assault allegedly committed by his former friend and roommate CrazySlick.

He took a break from broadcasting after the accusations, then went live again Oct. 11 for a “comeback stream.” During that stream—the VOD of which has been deleted—he played Super Mario 64, knowing that HasanAbi and xQc were both watching him live in anticipation of watching him address the coverup accusations (as well as alleged leaked messages where he used racial slurs). After saying he wouldn’t stop playing the game and address things until they left, he ended up just admitting he had no updates.

During the same stream, he guest-starred a tattoo artist, who made an offhand comment about being “a master at coverups.”

“Me too, for years,” Mizkif joked, apparently referring to the allegations.

OTK released a statement Dec. 31 saying an internal investigation (conducted by third-party law firm Jackson Walker LLP) concluded there was no “direct evidence that Mizkif attempted to minimize or cover up sexual assault as alleged.”

Based on those findings, OTK reinstated Mizkif as a member of its organization. However, his status as member of the board is a different matter.

“OTK believes that Mizkif has shown a callous disregard towards the severity of sexual misconduct and racial prejudice in our space,” the org said. “His statements regarding these matters on his ‘comeback stream’ on October 11th demonstrated a lack of empathy and ignorance towards the seriousness of the situation and the impact that his conduct has on our community.”

As a result of that behavior, Mizkif has been suspended from active board duties, but not kicked off the board. He’ll remain on probation, OTK said, “until he demonstrates to the board that he is capable of upholding our organization’s values.”

Mizkif uploaded a short response video Jan. 2.

“I want to apologize to everybody but especially victims of sexual assault,” he said. “The way I behaved was horrible, and I will be better and I will learn from this situation. I want to be better for not only myself but for my audience. I want my influence on this world to be positive, and I don’t want anybody to deem the way I acted in that first stream as acceptable or okay, because it was not.”

He added, “If you were angry with me, I completely understand. But I absolutely do love this job, I love streaming, and I hope you guys stick along.”

It’s not clear if Mizkif plans to resume streaming immediately.

OTK is also facing sexual assault allegations against co-founder Rich Campbell, who resigned from the org in December after his former girlfriend, creator Azalia Lexi, posted detailed accusations with an accompanying record of text messages.
