MrBeast was busy during World Kindness Day

Charity is a big part of Jimmy Donaldson‘s YouTube operation, and to celebrate World Kindness Day, the man known as MrBeast teamed up with a host of creators, coworkers, brands, and organizations. Through gestures big and small, Donaldson and co. attempted to complete 10,000 positive acts in a single day.

Donaldson’s kindness took multiple forms on November 13. He kicked off the day by gifting a new truck to a dependable volunteer at his food bank. Not all the beneficiaries of Donaldson’s goodwill walked away with a new vehicle; the acts of kindness ranged from a simple hug to a gift of hundreds of dollars.

It would be hard for one person to brighten 10,000 days, but Donaldson had a lot of help as he chased his charitable goal. Darren Margolias, the Executive Director of the Beast Philanthropy

YouTube channel, helped his boss hand out money and prizes to random passersby. TikTok star VicBlends, who hails from Donaldson’s home state of North Carolina, also showed up to lend a hand.

Additional assistance came from a few larger groups. Google, which battles food insecurity and other societal issues through the nonprofit Google.org, showed up to help Donaldson send meals to hungry families. The tech giant’s participation in World Kindness Day was part of a larger partnership with Feeding America, through which 50,000 meals will be delivered to communities in need.

“Addressing food insecurity requires a sustained and coordinated approach. We’re proud to partner with Feeding America to deliver over 50 million meals to people in need, and to work with them to strengthen their technology infrastructure,” said Google CEO Sundar Pichai in a statement. “We’re also making our products, like Search and Maps, more helpful to people searching for resources or ways to give back.”

Donaldson also found an appropriate sponsor for his World Kindness Day video: KIND Snacks. The food brand contributed boxes of its eponymous bars, which the MrBeast team gave away. “Our brand has kindness at its core,” said Kelly Solomon, KIND’s Global CMO, in a statement. “We have always believed that one simple act of kindness can cause a ripple effect, creating a kinder world for all. It was both our privilege and responsibility to spread kindness this World Kindness Day by living our purpose and leading by example.”

Despite Donaldson’s best efforts, his kindness counter stalled out at 7,446. To reach ten grand, he encouraged his fans to pay it forward through their own acts of goodwill. “Being kind is free,” Donaldson said at the end of the video. “And so is subscribing.”
