Misfits Gaming launches $20 million creator fund

Misfits Gaming Group, the esports/entertainment company that reps creators like Tubbo and Ranboo, has launched a $20 million fund “aimed at providing creators and influencers with the resources and infrastructure to easily implement projects that are innovative, creative, ambitious, and sustainable,” it says.

The fund is open to all creators, not just those Misfits represents. If a non-represented creator is selected to receive money from the fund, they’ll then sign with Misfits and have access to “all Misfits resources,” the org says.

Resources include “everything from financial investment to HR, marketing and operations resources, revenue modeling and strategy, M&A strategy, partnerships and sales, production, and more,” it adds.

With the fund, Misfits is looking to financially back creators who want to do things like branch out and build businesses, pitch television or streaming shows, produce events and live shows and conventions, and develop new merch.

“The Misfits Creator Fund is designed to be a true partnership with creator talent, helping to support and shoulder many of the headaches involved with launching large-scale projects so they, in turn, have the full headspace to concoct and create ambitious and exciting new ideas,” Ben Spoont, co-founder and CEO of Misfits Gaming Group, said in a statement.

Misfits already has some plans for what it’ll be funding, including the in-progress Minecraft server TubNet, a “show and event series” with Ranboo, a chess-themed show with American chess grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, and a podcast with Aimsey.

Applications for the fund will be accepted on a rolling basis here.
