House of Highlights brings its $100,000 dodgeball showdown to RDCWorld1’s Dream Con

The top creators in YouTube’s gaming and anime categories had better practice their five Ds, because at Dream Con, those stars will do a lot of dodging, ducking, dipping, diving, and dodging. The Texan convention will be the location of the latest House of Highlights Showdown, in which notable names like Jidion, Kai Cenat, and King Vader will compete for a $100,000 prize.

The participating creators for House of Highlights Showdown: The Return of Dodgeball – Delivered by Pizza Hut will be split into three teams. RDCWorld1 organizes Dream Con and won the last House of Highlights dodgeball tournament, so its team will get a direct bye into the final. Once there, the comedy troupe will face off against the winner of the semifinal match, which will feature members of the creator collective AMP (including Cenat) on one side and a “Dream Team” of Dream Con attendees (including Jidion and King Vader) on the other.

The winning squad will get to direct the $100,000 prize pool to a charity of its choice. If those stakes make you excited to check out the showdown, you’ll want to tune into the House of Highlights YouTube channel at 9 p.m. ET on July 15. That’s when this stream, hosted by The Broadcast Boys, will go live. Ahead of the big game, the Broadcast Boys have taken to TikTok to spread some hype about “the highest-stakes children’s game ever assembled.”

Like with other installments of House of Highlights’ Showdown franchise, this one will be sponsored by Pizza Hut. The Bleacher Report-owned basketball hub has seen strong results on its sponsored content by working directly with creators. Mark Phillips of RDCWorld1 has been one of the channel’s most frequent collaborators, so bringing a dodgeball tournament to Phillips’ own convention makes perfect sense.

“The Showdown franchise has been a cornerstone of House of Highlights’ creator strategy that puts social creators at the center of compelling, competitive content delivered to young sports fans on the platforms that they’re native to,” said Drew Muller, VP at House of Highlights, in a statement. “These competitions have fast become appointment viewing events, driving a tremendous amount of social conversation each time.”

Dream Con takes place at Esports Stadium Arlington in RDCWorld1’s home state, Texas. The gathering runs from July 15-17, so the dodgeball Showdown will be an exciting kickoff event. On the channels of the competitors, the trash talk has already begun. A note for Jidion: If you want to talk strategy, maybe don’t let your opponents watch.
