SuperBam taps Wally Weilbaecher to lead its new creator content lab

Digital rights startup SuperBam is launching a new content lab for creators and companies—and it’s tapping former Little Monster and Group Nine exec Jonathan “Wally” Weilbaecher to lead the venture.

SuperBam was founded in 2017 by former StyleHaul and Fullscreen exec Rian Bosak. Its core business is working with content creators to hunt down unauthorized reuploads of their videos and reclaim the revenue generated by those pirated copies.

Now, it’s launching Amplify, a lab that’s “focused on helping media companies and creators better optimize and program their content on YouTube and Facebook,” SuperBam tells Tubefilter.

Weilbaecher will serve as SVP of the lab. He joins from audience-building agency Little Monster, where he served as SVP of strategy and audience development. In that role, he worked with Little Monster clients on all aspects of their YouTube content strategies. He also led the teams that managed Little Monster’s consulting and channel management clients.

Weilbaecher was previously VP of audience development for Group Nine Media, and also held roles at multichannel networks Maker Studios and Studio71.

In these roles, Weilbaecher specialized in helping creators and companies navigate YouTube’s algorithm and growing stable of tools for videomakers, including its TikTok competitor Shorts and its Community feature, a sort of intra-YouTube blog where creators can make posts for their subscribers.

“We are beyond excited to have Wally join us at SuperBam, as it allows us to add a dynamic new offering in addition to our Digital Rights Management Services,” Bosak said in a statement.

In his own statement, Weilbaecher added, “SuperBam has always been a creator-first company that is dedicated to helping people succeed and better monetize on digital platforms, so I’m excited to bring my expertise to the company and help clients find greater success with their official channels.”

SuperBam and Weilbaecher are both based in Los Angeles.
