‘Fortnite’ streamer Cloakzy joins TimTheTatman at Complexity Gaming

Since its founding in 2003, Complexity Gaming has been one of the top esports organizations in the biz, winning 140 championships across nearly 30 different games. Recently, the Texas-based company has expanded its presence on the entertainment side of the gaming world, signing top streamers like Tim ‘TimTheTatman’ Betar.

Complexity’s newest signee will bolster its lineup in both the esports and entertainment realms. Dennis ‘Cloakzy’ Lepore, known as a top player in battle royale games like Fortnite, has joined the org as a member of its talent roster and one of its co-owners.

Lepore has more than seven million followers across all platforms, including 2.4 million on Twitch. He is buddies with Betar and joined his fellow streamer at a Dallas Cowboys game last year. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones invested in Complexity in 2017, and the company’s home base is located right next to the Boys’ practice facility in Frisco, Texas.

To announce Lepore’s arrival at Complexity, Betar appeared alongside him in a seven-minute short film called ‘The Betrayal,’ which the esports org shared on Twitter. Lepore will make his in-person debut as a Complexity creator at TimTheTatman’s Tailgate, which will take place in mid-July in Frisco.

Before joining Complexity, Lepore was previously partnered with FaZe Clan, but his union with the L.A.-based company ended poorly after he publicly criticized his “really bad” contract in 2020. In contrast, Lepore was impressed by Complexity’s five-year plan, which he called “actually insane.”

Like FaZe, Complexity is looking to marry the worlds of competitive gaming and lower-stakes streaming, and that’s why it is so interested in Lepore. After spending some time on Fortnite‘s professional circuit, the 27-year-old now explores many different games. “Cloakzy is a unique and talented gaming personality – he is one of a small handful of streamers with a tenured competitive background and the charisma to reach millions with his engaging content,” said Jason Lake, Founder and CEO of Complexity Gaming, in a statement. “The addition of Cloakzy to our team not only expands Complexity’s global reach and influence but also grows our content offering for Complexity fans.”

With the addition of Lepore to its roster, Complexity now reaches more than audience of more than 60 million followers across all social channels. The 19-year-old org is owned by Toronto-based GameSquare Esports.
