Chart Toppers
Welcome to the top, Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes!
The American, which delivers colorful content to its audience of more than 125 million subscribers, received more views during the week of New Year’s than any other YouTube channel. Cocomelon’s most recent measured total topped out at 828.7 million weekly views, which was an 11% traffic increase week-over-week as well as the highest seven-day figure Cocomelon has posted in months.
T-Series was on top of this ranking throughout November and December, but as the calendar turned over to 2022, the Indian record label dropped back to second in our Global Top 50. The 812.8 million weekly views it picked up represented only a slight dip in its viewership, but that number was not high enough to match the growth experienced by Cocomelon.
Third place in the latest Global Top 50 went to Like Nastya. After bumping up its viewership by 2% week-over-week, the U.S.-based family vlog was able to eclipse the 700 million view threshold. Its seven-day traffic reached 701.9 million weekly views, which was good enough for it to maintain the third-place finish it achieved last week.
Koray Zeynep finished fourth in our latest global chart. This is the Turkish channel’s highest-ever placement in the Global Top 50, and the 624.2 million weekly views it received eclipsed all the other seven-day totals it had previously posted. Zeynep’s channel shares two things in common with the majority of channels that are climbing our charts these days: It is family-oriented, and it is most active on YouTube Shorts.
SET India rounded out this week’s global top five. The Sony-owned, South Asia-based content hub registered 611.7 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
Way back in 2009, Paul Wood and Paul Klein — a.k.a. Woody & Kleiny — appeared on the third season of Britain’s Got Talent. Fun fact — it was the same season in which Susan Boyle became a household name.
Now, the two Pauls are a hit on YouTube and TikTok, but the latest viral content is a far cry from what they performed on the telly. In their Britain’s Got Talent act, the pair juggled soccer balls while cracking wise. These days, they’re still giving off silly vibes, but their most popular videos are less appropriate for a talent show, and more appropriate for Jackass.
In a video that has received more than 180 million views to date, Woody, Kleiny, and their friends compete in a broad jumping content. Those who fall short of the intended landing point are treated to all sorts of punishments, including facefuls of fire extinguisher foam. Commenters have noted that spraying someone with a fire extinguisher is quite dangerous, though the stars of this video don’t seem to mind.
Over seven days, Woody & Kleiny’s YouTube channel picked up 169.2 million weekly views, which was 9% more than what the duo generated the week before. Thanks to that slight uptick, the British outfit moved from 50th place in the world up to 46th. Good thing they didn’t miss the top 50 altogether, or else we would have no choice but to spray them in the face with a fire extinguisher.
