YouTube star and actress Liza Koshy is about to flex her hosting chops as the newly-tapped co-host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
Seventeen-time master of ceremonies Seacrest will appear alongside first-time co-host Koshy in Times Square. Multi-platinum selling artist Ciara, who has appeared on NYRE five times, will be hosting the Los Angeles festivities, with Billy Porter presiding over the party in New Orleans and Roselyn Sanchez tuning in from Puerto Rico.
The 50th anniversary of the show, produced by ABC and MRC Live & Alternative, will air on Dec. 31, beginning at 8 pm ET. The live broadcast will feature performances from Avril Lavigne
, French Montana, Macklemore, Måneskin, OneRepublic, Daddy Yankee, and LL Cool J.Last year’s show saw 18.4 million viewers, producers said — 7 million more than competing New Year’s Eve broadcasts.
Koshy, for her part, signed an overall deal with Jada and Will Smith’s media company, Westbrook Inc., last December. She’ll next be seen in the Netflix rom-com Players and in a film adaptation of Cat Person, a viral short story that first ran in The New Yorker.
