Disney CTO Joe Inzerillo Exits To Lead Tech At SiriusXM

Disney CTO Joe Inzerillo is exiting the company to join audio streamer SiriusXM as its new chief product and technology officer.

Inzerillo spearheaded tech for all of Disney’s streaming offerings: Disney+, ESPN+, Star+, and Hulu.

At SiriusXM, Inzerillo will “set and lead the implementation of SiriusXM’s product roadmap, satellite infrastructure enhancements, and technology vision and strategy to drive innovation and growth across all SiriusXM platforms,” the company said in a statement.

His new team comprises more than 1,500 engineers, product leads, and tech professionals. He will also oversee SiriusXM’s information technology and broadcast infrastructure sector, including the teams that design, built, and operate within it.

Inzerillo will take up his post Jan. 10, 2022, and will report directly to SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz. When he joins, SiriusXM’s longtime chief innovation officer Jim Cady will retire. Cady will stay through the end of February to work with Inzerillo and “ensure a seamless transition,” SiriusXM said.

“Joe brings significant experience building and leading innovative digital platforms, and he will be instrumental as SiriusXM continues to evolve and as we executive on our growth strategies,” Witz said in a statement.

Inzerillo described joining SiriusXM as “the culmination of all of my professional experiences over the last 30 years.”

“From the moment I accepted the role, my mind has been racing with ideas for how we can expand digital capabilities across SiriusXM’s business,” he said.

Prior to onboarding at Disney, Inzerillo founded and served as CTO of Major League Baseball-affiliated BAMTech Media. In that role, he helped launch MLB.tv, and brought instant replay and wireless connectivity into all 30 MLB stadiums. BAMTech has worked with the National Hockey League, and with an array of streaming and media companies, including HBO Now, WWE Network, Eurosport Player, and Fox Sports.
