Amazon Taps Digital Veteran Kelly Day To Oversee Prime Video Internationally

Amazon has tapped digital video veteran Kelly Day — most recently of ViacomCBS — to serve as VP of Prime Video international, a newly-created role.

Day will be charged with overseeing Amazon’s video business in overseas markets, reports Variety, including SVOD, transactional rentals and sales, and Prime Video Channels, which enables consumers to subscribe to various services — like Showtime and Discovery+ — through Amazon.

She will start in her new role in January, reporting to SVP of Amazon Studios and Prime Video Mike Hopkins.

“[Kelly] will work with the regional leaders and country directors to create Prime Video’s local content strategies,” Hopkins wrote in a memo to staffers, per Variety, “and she and her team will be key stakeholders in the development and launches of Amazon Original shows and movies, which will continue to roll up under [Amazon Studios head] Jen Salke and [Amazon Studios head of international originals] James Farrell.”

Day most recently served as ViacomCBS Networks International’s president of streaming, where she led the company’s streaming business globally and oversaw the international rollout of Paramount+ as well as the expansion of Pluto TV. She first joined Viacom in 2017 after its acquisition of AwesomenessTV, where Day previously served as chief digital officer and chief business officer.
