Josh Richards To Make His Acting Debut In CrossCheck-Produced ‘Halloween Party’

Josh Richards’ Gen Z-focused production company CrossCheck Studios has unveiled its first film — a comedy called Halloween Party, in which Richards is also poised to make his acting debut.

The picture is the result of a first-look deal between CrossCheck and STXFilms, Deadline reports. It is written by Nick Cion and Annie Harnick, following two friends on the fringes of Hollywood who venture to track down a fabled Halloween party.

Going forward, STX — which produces, acquires, distributes, and markets films like Greenland and Hustlers — will have a first look at all of CrossCheck’s films in development.

“[STXFilms motion picture group chairman Adam Fogelson] has been a mentor of mine over the last year and has offered incredible guidance both personally and professionally,” Richards said in a statement. “I am proud to join forces with him and the team at STX to continue on my journey to tell amazing stories to Gen Z, a truly underserved generation.”

CrossCheck was founded in February and operates in partnership with Mark Wahlberg’s production company Unrealistic Ideas to create content catered to Gen Z, due to Richards’ expertise as a top TikTok star. His colleagues at CrossCheck include longtime business associate Michael Gruen, who serves as co-founder and co-president, and former ICM agent Chris Sawtelle, who became CrossCheck’s co-president in September.

In addition to CrossCheck Studios, Richards and fellow TikToker-entrepreneur Griffin Johnson launched a sports agency called CrossCheck Sports in April.
