Instagram Rolls Out Ability To Share Links In Stories To Everyone

Instagram is expanding the ability for all users to share links in their Stories.

In a blog post, Instagram noted that businesses and creators have long used links to share products, off-platform content, and other resources.

In June, Instagram launched link Stickers to verified accounts, or those with more than 10,000 followers. This was to replace the ‘swipe-up’ functionality, which was previously how influencers pointed users to off-platform links, notes The Verge. (Everyone else was relegated to the age-old ‘link in bio’ directive).

Swipe-ups were discontinued in August in favor of Stickers. And now, anyone can use the Sticker tool in Stories to add a link. “We’re also working on ways to customize the sticker so it’s clear what someone will see when they tap your link.” Instagram said.

Notably, Instagram said new accounts and accounts that repeatedly share hate speech and misinformation — or other content that violates its Community Guidelines — will not have access to link Stickers.
