Netflix Orders ‘CoComelon’, ‘Little Baby Bum’ Originals Amid Moonbug Library Expansion

Netflix wants more Moonbug.

The streamer has added new originals from Moonbug’s arsenal of kid-friendly content — namely its CoComeon and Little Baby Bum content franchises — that will begin to roll out globally next year.

The deal will see the development of two original shows — CoComelon Lane (including 24, seven-minute episodes across a total of three seasons) and Little Bay Bum: Music Time (48, seven-minute episodes across one season). CoComelon Lane, dropping in 2022, will feature characters experiencing life’s big moments as little kids, while Music Time, bowing in 2023, will invite preschoolers into their first exploration of sounds and other music fundamentals.

The deal will also call for four, 60-minute nursery rhyme compilations.

Moonbug notes that the existing CoComelon library has become a smash on Netflix since launching on the service last year, hitting the Top 10 list in 29 different countries, including the U.S., U.K., Philippines, South Africa, Canada, and Australia.

“With so many options available to kids and families, the popularity of Moonbug’s series on Netflix speaks volumes,” Moonbug co-founder and CEO Rene Rechtman said in a statement. “With original shows to fan-favorites like CoComelon and Little Baby Bum leading the charge, we want to give viewers even more opportunities to connect through their favorite characters, stories, and nursery rhymes.”

All told, Moonbug content is distributed in 27 languages and on more than 100 platforms globally.
