YouTube Studio Donut Media Spins Up $260,000 In Preorders For Its First Product, Car Collectible STOCKY

Donut Media, the cars-are-for-everyone digital media studio with more than 5 million subscribers on YouTube, is set to produce its first collectible, STOCKY.

Described by Donut as “the world’s first premium collectible for car nerds (probably),” STOCKY is a palm-sized PVC plastic figure of a car with squished proportions. The launch figure is made in partnership with Acura and depicts one of the automaker’s all-time most popular models: the Integra Type R.

Donut–which nets around 50 million views per month on YouTube, where it runs multiple weekly shows about all aspects of car admiration and ownership—says it wanted to create STOCKY because other nerdy communities can show off their interests with playful models like Funko POPS! and Youtooz figurines, but car enthusiasts tend to be limited to more serious shelf-sitters like die-cast scale models.

“We set out to design something fun and cool that you’d be proud to display in your office or your dorm room or wherever,” James Pumphrey, one of Donut Media’s hosts, said in STOCKY’s announcement video.

The studio decided to bring STOCKY to life via Kickstarter fundraiser, and reached its goal of $75,000 within eight hours of posting the project. To date, the studio has raised more than $260,000 from 4,500+ backers.

“It’s hard and expensive to get your hands on a life size, mint Type R these days, so we thought it fitting to bring STOCKY to life in the form of this icon,” Donut wrote in the Kickstarter description. “After a ton of iterations we finally decided on this sporty, skewed, miniaturized shape that we think pays homage to the original shape of the car, but is also just plain fun to look at.”

Donut is offering the Integra STOCKY in seven colors, including the car’s iconic Phoenix Yellow, Nighthawk Black Pearl, Championship White, DIY Primer (aka unpainted, meant for folks who like to paint models themselves), glow in the dark, translucent (limited to 300), Donut Signature Edition (limited to 100, signed by the Donut team), and one lone 14K gold-plated edition that costs $10,000.

The Type R is only the first of what Donut hopes will be a vast lineup of STOCKY collectibles, the studio says.

It plans to deliver preordered Type Rs to Kickstarter backers by January 2022.
