In June, Instagram will host its first ever professional development program for creators.
Dubbed Creator Week, the invite-only event will run June 8-10 and will involve three days of virtual sessions aimed at helping creators build lasting careers on Instagram and its parent, Facebook.
Charles Porch, Instagram’s VP of global partnerships, told Variety the platform put Creator Week together because it’s heard users say they need more information from Instagram and fellow creators about how to grow their communities and build businesses from their accounts.
Instagram expects around 5,000 U.S.-based creators to attend Creator Week, it told Variety.
The event’s lineup of educational sessions includes How to Supercharge Your Community, Media Training 101, How to Break Into Entertainment, How to Start a Podcast, and How to Get Discovered on Instagram. There will be sessions addressing “burnout and algorithm myth-busting” too, Instagram says.
Creator Week will also offer Fund My Merch Line, a Shark Tank-esque session where creators can “pitch their dream product idea to a panel of judges.” An unspecified number of winners will have their ideas funded.
Though Creator Week is invitation-only, some content from sessions will be available on Instagram’s creator hub account, instagram.com/creators, including The Rundown, a daily recap of the event’s goings-on.
Instagram has plans to host Creator Week programs for the French and European markets as well, per Variety.
