Two countries continue to dominate the top tier of the digital video landscape. The 13 YouTube channels that received the most views in the world during the first week of February all hail from either the United States or India. At the top of our latest ranking of the top 50 most-viewed YouTube channels of the week worldwide, it is the orange, white, and green Indian flag that continues to fly, thanks to the ongoing success of a local record label.
T-Series has been the #1 channel in our global chart for the entirety of 2021, and the movie and music destination continues to hold a substantial viewership lead over all other YouTube channels. In the latest ranking, the Indian content hub recorded 918.8 million weekly views, which gave it a lead of more than 150 million views over the next-most trafficked channel. T-Series’ seven-day viewership also represented a 4% week-over-week increase, so don’t assume it will be slowing down any time soon.
The title of global runner-up went once again to Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, an American animation channel that boasted a seven-day total of 761.3 million weekly views. In this week’s top five, Cocomelon was surrounded on all sides by Indian channels; third place went to SET India, which counted 593.6 million weekly views, and the YouTube home of a different Sony-owned, South Asian TV channel, Sony SAB, ended up in fourth. That hub, which has become a regular in our global top five, registered 480 million weekly views in our latest count.
The only change in this week’s global top five came in the fifth position, which was occupied by Like Nastya. The Russian-American family vlog moved up two spots from its previous chart position after picking up 429.4 million weekly views, which was good for an 8% week-over-week viewership gain.
Masha and the Bear, a Russian animated series for children, is well-known to close followers of the YouTube ecosystem. One of the show’s Russian-language episodes is among the video site’s most-viewed clips, with more than 4.4 billion total views.
Despite its Slavic roots, Masha and the Bear is making waves among English-language viewers, too. Like another regular in our global top 50, Cocomelon, Masha videos are now available on Netflix, and they’re gaining a larger profile on YouTube as well. In our latest chart, the English-language Masha and the Bear YouTube home (which flies the UK flag in order to differentiate it from the show’s Russian hub) reached 35th place thanks to a week-over-week viewership jump of 21%. The channel’s cumulative seven-day traffic reached 152.6 million weekly views, and it now has more than 10 billion lifetime views.
Like many other popular YouTube channels, Masha utilizes a consistent posting schedule to reel in its viewers. Each week, the English-language channel posts both a live stream and an entire new episode of the show. The latest of those premieres followed Masha as she donned a red jersey resembling those of the Russian national sports teams and proceeded to pass some time playing ice hockey.
