Instagram has altered its user interface for Stories consumption on desktop devices in a bid to make the experience a bit more immsersive.
Now, The Verge reports, Stories will open on desktops as a carousel of videos, with each tab in the carousel representing a different creator account. The carousel enables viewers to scroll through Stories in a way that’s similar to the mobile experience.
To advance to the next Story, users can click forward or back arrows, or tap the corresponding keys on their keyboards. In order to advance to a different creator’s Story — the new interface showcases two Stories ahead and two behind — users can simply click with their mouses. Previously, the interface only showed one user’s Stories at a time, without the ability to leap to different accounts.
Instagram has launched several other product updates recently, including making its TikTok copycat Reels product shoppable. And this week, it unveiled a brand new dashboard for business owners and entrepreneurial creators that centralizes access to all of its business-related tools and educational content.
